Hwam Autopilot

40 percent more heat and 17 percent better fuel utilization

A new study carried out by the Danish Technological Institute showed that it is possible to achieve an even higher level of efficiency in a stove equipped with an autopilot.

If you have a wood burning stove equipped with an autopilot that constantly ensures optimum fuel utilization and proper combustion, you get more heat for your money and protect the environment at the same time. The technology provides you with up to 40 per cent more heat and uses considerably less wood.

Nothing could be cosier than lighting up a stove filled with dry wood and relaxing as the flames crackle and the pleasant warmth spreads rapidly throughout the room. However, some people are concerned that this may mean they are heating the great outdoors by sending energy straight up through the chimney. Recently, attention has also been drawn to the impact wood burning stoves have on the environment.

A great deal of smoke has passed through Danish chimneys since the first stoves came into use. Very few people are aware that a patented autopilot, which constantly regulates vital air intake, is installed at the back of all stoves from the Danish company, Hwam A/S. This ensures optimum utilization of the wood without it being necessary to lift a finger. All wood-burning stoves can burn well, but Hwams autopilot ensures that faulty operation on the part of users is a thing of the past.

Study: 40 per cent more heat and 17 percent better fuel utilization

A new study carried out by the Danish Technological Institute showed that it is possible to achieve a level of efficiency in a stove equipped with an autopilot that is 17 per cent higher than in the same stove without an autopilot, if it is not used in accordance with the guidelines. And, when all is said and done, very few people are prepared to spend their time constantly adjusting air intake to ensure the greatest possible efficiency, which is an expression of how well the stove utilizes the energy from the wood during combustion. The study also showed that a stove equipped with an autopilot can produce up to 40 per cent more heat, measured in kilowatt -hours, than the same stove without one.

At a time when there is sharp focus on the environment, a stove equipped with an autopilot offers an additional advantage. Burning wood is a CO2-neutral process. And wood is a resource that can always be re-established thanks to the ongoing planting of new trees, so burning wood in a stove is CO2-neutral – if, it should be noted, the wood used is dry. Stoves from Hwam bear the Nordic Ecolabel, which means they comply with requirements on the emission of particulate matter that are even more rigorous than those laid down in Danish legislation. And, thanks to the autopilot, emissions from many Hwam stoves are less than half of the limitation required to satisfy the Nordic Ecolabelling requirements.

Wood-burning stoves have provided a great deal of warmth and cosiness in Danish homes down through the years. Those who have invested in a stove equipped with an autopilot can light up with a clear conscience while achieving savings and eco-friendly heating – without losing that cosy atmosphere.

Hwam A/S is one of Denmarks leading manufacturers of efficient, eco-friendly wood-burning stoves that bear the Nordic Ecolabel and are the only stoves that are equipped with the special autopilot.
